Those tracks, words and music, are the result of a songwriting workshop organized for teenagers by the cultural center of Marchin (Belgium) in 2000, thanks to Pierre Mossoux and "Mille Lieux de Vie" asbl.
We first worked on texts with some methods of writing inspired by DADA historical word games (cadavre exquis, collage, random samples of newspapers, etc). The melodies came later. I brought some instruments (guitars, percussions, keyboards, mics, amps...). Some of the teens had a musical background (and even a band called Swollen), but others didn't. I managed to help them to learn what we had composed and arranged.
Then I eventually recorded the four songs performed with young participants at X.Y.Zèbres studio (Huy, B).
We were lucky to play live for some gigs in our area, first time on stage for most of them.
A really amazing adventure !!
Après le Cd de "La Grande Troupe Des Déchaînés", chapeauté en 1999 par André Borbé, c'est au tour des "Têtes Au Carré" de vous faire partager le fruit de l'atelier-chanson du centre Culturel de Marchin. Invité par Pierre Mossoux, j'ai choisi cette année d'y accueillir 8 adolescents marchinois, pas forcément musiciens (mais motivés !!!), et le groupe "Swollen".
Partant de rien, nous avons écrit et composé à plusieurs mains, très curieux de voir où cette grande aventure nous mènerait... Vous tenez en main le résultat: 5 titres parfaitement ficelés par les "Têtes Au Carré", puis enregistrés à la maison.
La boucle est carrément bouclée: créer ensemble des chansons, les graver sur un Cd , puis les présenter sur scène... C'est la quadrature du cercle !
Ces bons moments donneront peut-être à certains l'envie d'aller plus loin... Car, comme le dit ce nouveau proverbe marchinois : "Les têtes au carré n'arrondissent pas les angles".
